We are now Emerson
Community Charter
On June 10, 2014, the LAUSD School Board voted to approve Emerson’s application to become a LAUSD-affiliated charter. This August, our neighborhood middle school will open its doors as Emerson Community Charter.
This marks a major milestone for the school and recognizes the hard work, creative thinking and collaboration of teachers, administrators, parents, students and other stakeholders to effectuate change at Emerson. The charter will ensure that all new members to our school community understand and similarly embrace the mission, standards and philosophy established by our current stakeholders.
The new STEM and Arts & Media Academies, modeled after the successful Emerson Sports Academy, have proven to be a critical development in the renaissance taking place at Emerson. We are pleased to announce the introduction of a fourth academy, Leadership, which will launch in the fall. In addition, the campus renovation project is proceeding apace with construction slated for an early completion in August 2015.
We look forward to ushering in a new era for Emerson Community Charter.
