Upcoming Emerson Tours - Meet Principal Watson

Emerson Middle School invites you to visit its campus and meet its new
principal. Upcoming tour dates have just been announced:

Thursday, November 17 at 8:45 a.m.
Thursday, December 15 at 8:45 a.m.

Tours begin in the library.

The Emerson community welcomes Mr. Dimone Watson, the new principal of
Ralph Waldo Emerson Middle School. With over 20 years of experience
in teaching and academic administration, Mr. Watson brings with him a
wealth of leadership and hands-on experience. He was born and raised
in Los Angeles and is a graduate of Hamilton High School. He
completed his B.A. at the University of California at Berkeley,
majoring in English with a minor in Education. He holds a teaching
credential in Secondary English, an M.A. in Secondary Education, and
an M.A. in Administration. He taught high school English for eight
years, six of which were spent at his alma mater Hamilton High
School. For the last nine years he has served as an assistant
principal at the middle and high school levels.

Mr. Watson has a passion for sports and a stellar track record as a
coach. He has coached boys’ and girls’ volleyball throughout his
career, leading the Hamilton boys’ team to a city runner up title in
1999 and the Foshay girls’ team to the small school division’s city
championship in 2009. He also served as an adjunct professor in the
Cal State Los Angeles graduate school for counselors.

As a former teacher and a current middle school parent, Mr. Watson has
a personal understanding of the interests of all Emerson stakeholders.
Above all else, he has an enthusiasm for Emerson that touches all who
meet him. We are pleased to welcome such a distinguished leader to
our school’s community.
