SOoo let's meet later in the month in January so our member who are
out of the state and those out of the country (in eygpt) can get
back. Plus hopefully it will be far enough in advance that Mel can
ask off work. How about thursday Jan the 24th?

I think we should plan on talking about Brian's new book, everything
must change, in preparation of his visit in Feb. How about all of
those who have read the book or parts of it or the articles on it on
his website or any one who wants come up with two questions to get the
convo going and we will use them to start discussing.

So who wants to ask a question or two?

It's a good idea pushing it back in the month... I'm not free the 24th
because of work, but I'm all clear on Tuesday the 22nd if that works
for people

Hello Folks,
I moved to the Triad a few months ago and have been wanting to connect
with all of you, but have struggled to make your meet-ups due to
schedule conflicts. I have read the book and am hoping to be at the
conference in Charlotte next month (I've asked permission to miss a
required denominational meeting on Feb. 2, awaiting the reply). As far
as a question, let me throw one out ...

I still remember years ago in college a discussion among a group of
religion majors (most of us going into full-time Christian ministry of
some kind) whether we thought the world could ever reach the point of
living according to Jesus' message of LOVE. I was the only one in the
group who actually believed it could someday happen! ... In reading
McLaren's words about how far our world has gone down the path of self-
destruction/suicide-machine, I'm left wondering the same thing I asked
back in college ...

If McLaren is right about the secret message of Jesus and its
application to the greatest crises our world faces, do we - Christ-
followers in this discussion - believe that the potential outcome
McLaren proposes (Kingdom vision of Jesus) could ever actually happen
on this earth? And if we do believe it, what should you and I be doing
about it right now?

Thanks for letting me weigh in on your discussion. I thought I would
start with a question at the 20,000 ft. level before we get too
specific.

I forgot to mention that I should be able to make a meeting on the
22nd. But I'll need to know where it will be held.

hey jonathan, glad you are here. so let's do it on the 22nd - 7pm @
Krankies (211 E 3rd street Winston Salem, NC). if you need more
specific directions feel free to give me a call on my cell (919)
618-2838 or google map the address.

we should definitely start with Jonathan's question, it's a good one.
it should be interesting given the diversity of the group. hopefully
we will at least have one vocal member of the Reformed tradition there
to tell us about total depravity. maybe Mel should get the second
question....hmmmm......

YEA! :happy dance:
I'm so excited I can go!

While I can come up with a question.... I need to read the book first,
so if anyone has a good question toss it out!
