Hello Folks,
I moved to the Triad a few months ago and have been wanting to connect
with all of you, but have struggled to make your meet-ups due to
schedule conflicts. I have read the book and am hoping to be at the
conference in Charlotte next month (I've asked permission to miss a
required denominational meeting on Feb. 2, awaiting the reply). As far
as a question, let me throw one out ...
I still remember years ago in college a discussion among a group of
religion majors (most of us going into full-time Christian ministry of
some kind) whether we thought the world could ever reach the point of
living according to Jesus' message of LOVE. I was the only one in the
group who actually believed it could someday happen! ... In reading
McLaren's words about how far our world has gone down the path of self-
destruction/suicide-machine, I'm left wondering the same thing I asked
back in college ...
If McLaren is right about the secret message of Jesus and its
application to the greatest crises our world faces, do we - Christ-
followers in this discussion - believe that the potential outcome
McLaren proposes (Kingdom vision of Jesus) could ever actually happen
on this earth? And if we do believe it, what should you and I be doing
about it right now?
Thanks for letting me weigh in on your discussion. I thought I would
start with a question at the 20,000 ft. level before we get too
specific.
