Hi,

I have been reading a few books lately by authors in the emerging
church movement and am interesting in knowing more about the Pods, how
they work, what they are like, when and where the meet, etc. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

Pods??? Okay now I'm out of it. Is that some invasion of the body snatcher movie thing I don't know about?

HI Daniel, Welcome.
Pods are just  a term we use to break up Emergent So CAL into smaller regions for gatherings etc. , I.e. LA, OC, SD etc. Where are you located?

Hey Daniel,

Welcome to the convo. I'm one of the guides for EmergentSoCal and am

once per quarter. We've met for converstion, dinner, art, music, etc.

I would love to connect with you in person. Email me at

Blessings,
Aaron

Hey Aaron

Would love to get together, I will see how it works out. I live in bakersfield, and have a fairly full schedule.
The gathering sounds wonderful though, we have a simular group here that meets monthly.

Are you aware of a gathering taking place called Soliton?
It is in Ventura August 9th thru 12th.  Wonderful group of people,

Wello look forward to getting to meet everyone.

Just to chime in,
We're still working on figuring out the whole "pod system", but
basically as Aaron stated, that since So Cal is such a huge
geographical region it was somewhat necessary to break up into little
"pods" instead of being just a larger cohort.

I myself at this point am the guide for the San Fernando Valley, Santa
Clarita, Simi Valley, and quite possibly Pasadena for now. (and I'm
also often in the Antalope Valley (palmdale/lancaster) area, so if you
are out there and want to get together let me know)

I'm still need to figure out (and Aaron help me out on this one since
you have the master list) who there is in the area and then we will
start planning a meeting of some sorts in the next few months.

But if you ever just want to chat or connect you can always reach me
at andre...@gmail.com or via my blog at andrewseely.com

Look forward to connecting soon.

I am also new to this but very intrigued. Is there a pod in Simi
Valley?
Peace

I'm sort of new. Been a part of the mailing list for a couple months now. Prior to joining, I've heard a few of the Emergent/Emerging voices (barely enough to know the difference between "Emergent" and "Emerging")--long story not-so-long, they've caught my attention. I'm part of a Reformed, Indonesian church here in the San Gabriel Valley. My wife and I live in Pasadena (Fuller).

I recently moved from DC to OC (see our road trip blog at www.coast2coastmove.com),
just beginning to get settled in. Here's my 411 --

Your Name = DJ Chuang
Where you Live = Aliso Viejo (South Orange County)

Why "Emergent?" -- Why not? :) Many of those I've met in emergent
conversations have been cordial and respectful and show much grace in
many aspects of their lives

What you are looking for out of EmergentSoCal. -- a safe place to hang
out for conversations about spirituality and life, with a preference
for more relationship than heady intellectual conundrums, though I do
like some degree of intellectual speculations & sparring

My Name is Scott Sanders
I live in Culver City (Westside LA)
I have lurked at the fringes of the Emergent Conversation for many
years, but I am coming to the end of the Church's ability/willingness
to ask/answer the questions that I believe to be most germane.
I hope to find other people drive by wonder and curiosity who are not
content to stop asking questions when they find a popular or tried-and-
true (read: traditional) answer.

Pax,

Scott
