to Portland Emergent Cohort
Hi everybody,

We had a good meeting this month with Melissa and Jerry. We discussed emerging authors and books, and we developed some generalizations about who Emergent people are:

1. People afraid to tell their liberal friends that they're Christian.
2. People afraid to tell their Christian friends that they're liberal.

Sound like you? Disagree?

Also, I've been thinking that perhaps some online discussions could supplement our monthly gatherings. The National Cohort Leaders group has some great email discussions going.

Was Backspace Coffee a location problem for anyone? If so, let us know. If not, let's stick with that and plan our meetings there for the near future.

Want to try Third Mondays? That would make the next conversation on July 21. 7pm. Backspace Coffee.

So what are you? A Christian Liberal or a Liberal Christian? Do you mean that in the political sense, or the theological sense? hehe!

Ken:  Great thoughts.  I think I am sometimes one then the other - you know, 'all things to all people'?   Bill

I feel like I'm always outside and never truly belong to either camp--the liberals and the Christians. That used to bother me more than it does now. When I first moved to Portland, I was surprised at how vehemently anti-Christian it felt.
