Hi Michael,
My class has discovered that the current version of the srn or maybe the accompanying go.mod is incompatible with the latest version of go, I believe 1.25.4. But if 1.23.1 is installed the srn works. Later versions of 1.23.1 probably also work, but we haven’t tried them.
Best, Steve

Here is the error message from one student. Note that other students got basically the same message, even if they did not run go mod tidy.
Hello Professor Read! For the midterm project, I am also unable to run the initial version of srn.go without any modifications. I installed the
Go version of go version go1.25.0 darwin/arm64. I installed using the installer from golang. I did run “go mod tidy” after installing go and emergent/leabra. The error I get is “# golang.org/x/tools/internal/tokeninternal
../../../../go/pkg/mod/golang.org/x/to...@v0.20.0/internal/tokeninternal/tokeninternal.go:64:9: invalid array
length -delta * delta (constant -256 of type int64)
core run failed: error building app: build: error building for platform darwin/arm64: failed to run “go build -ldflags -s -w -X cogentcore.org/core/system.CoreVersion=v0.3.5 -o
/Users/Selina/Documents/PSYC450/psyc450-SRN_midterm_CogentCore/srn/srn: exit status 1”, which is an incompatibility between a specific older version of the golang.org/x/tools dependency
(v0.20.0) and the Go compiler.
How can I resolve this problem? Thank you! (edited)
