WASH-related Studies/Reports
- Evaluating the Efficacy of the Supertowel™ as a Handwashing Product: A Simulation of Real-World Use Conditions. Am Jnl Trop Med Hyg, January 2021. The aim of this study was to test whether the Supertowel remains as efficacious when used under conditions which mimic real-world hand cleaning in challenging settings.
- Summary report: Fostering a new generation of effective hygiene initiatives built on the pandemic experience. COVID-19 Hygiene Hub, January 2021. This summary report presents key principles that can be drawn upon to influence contextualized approaches to sustainability, advocacy and policy change.
- Efficacy of locally-available cleaning methods and household chlorination at inhibiting biofilm development in jerricans used to store household drinking water. Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology, 2021, advance article. Results highlight the need for research on locally-appropriate cleaning methods and/or alternatives (e.g. replacement, biofilm-resistant surfaces) to ensure jerricans provide safe storage of drinking water.

This report reflects an October 2020 snapshot of our work in the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Uganda, exploring the effect of cash transfers on health and household welfare outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
