Dear Emen,

While playing with Rhino at Terminus this past weekend, some Sub Zero guy layed out and landed on the back of my leg while I was running. I twisted my knee and have since been to a lot of doctors. This morning my orthopedist confirmed that I have torn my ACL and partially torn my LCL [possibly completely]. I will be getting surgery this Friday to repair the damage.

This obviously sucks mucho as the best times in my life are when I'm out on the field balling with all of you guys. However, because this happened during the summer I am hoping that if everything goes accordingly I could start to get back out on the field with you guys in the spring as soon as February. I'm sorry I won't be able to play with you guys in the fall, but I will work as hard as I can at rehab so that I can get back onto the field with all of you ballers.

Can't wait to see all of you soon. Love ya.

Best,

Carter

Guys,
I hope you all realize how devastating this misfortune is to the development of our TEAM, on multiple levels. There's nothing we can do to help Carter get better faster or remedy the time lost. As teammates the only thing we can do is better ourselves during this time. You can bet your ass that Carter was working his fucking ass off to improve. There needs to be more from us. Take care of your bodies, but work to get better. If Carter comes back and sees us playing like shit, getting roasted, skyed, and just generally sucking a fat one, you gotta know he's going to get worked up and try and play or something and get hurt.

I'm dead serious. Lift. Throw. Run. Send out emails, get better with your TEAMmates. I hope none of you have forgotten Sunday at regionals. There was a lot of big talk back then, but talk doesn't mean shit. We live and die as a TEAM, so I need to work harder for all of you or else I'm failing. It's okay if you let yourself down sometimes, if you can't meet your expectations you set for yourself, but never allow yourself to let a TEAMmate down.

Contrary to what your gut might tell you, the plane has not crashed into the goddam mountain. We are bummed for Carter. True. We are bummed that we'll have to wait to watch him teabag fools, because that is just fun. We also appreciate the opportunity we have to prove that we don't need him on the field. And if/when he comes back, well, that's just bonus. Maybe we'll save a spot for him. He is captain, after all. Regardless, our expectations are unchanged. We will play the best ultimate that is possible. Unencumbered by expectations, fears, doubts. Let those go with a deep breath and free yourself for the next steps. We'll aim high not because we deserve it or because we've achieved greatness before but because the process of working hard together is rewarding in itself.

Tyler makes a good point. You each have an opportunity to make a contribution to this TEAM. This is a great time to check in with yourself. How are your hucks? How is your acceleration? How much are you actually focusing on playing aggressive defense during summer league or goaltimate? What the hell do you keep putting into your body? Discipline is what you do when no one else is looking. Discipline is a daily decision.

Looking forward to seeing you all, seeing what you've become, and working to get to where we are going.

-v

if/(when)

I've circled the correct answer for your convenience. Lowers with Momo and I tomorrow morning at 7. MTRS may come as well!

Tang, we're on 45.

I did 45 yesterday, we're definitely on 46.

For those who want to join us, we're doing XX pushups, crunches and side abs, where it increases by one every day. It's not extra sprints or hill reps(Which, by the way, hell yes Pudge. Definitely deserve more recognition for that), but it's one of those little things where it helps you be a little more fit, and just a little more disciplined.

Keep on workin' baby.
