A community meeting for English speakers- the meeting summary
"Chol Hamoed Succot", October 20thCommunity Meeting for English-Speaking Community Residents
The meeting took place at the family succah of Maggie and Jerry Goodman-- residents of the German Colony.
The meeting was a joint effort of caring residents of our neighborhood and of the local community center - "The International Cultural & Community Council" (ICCC) - "Merkaz Tarbut HeAmim" which is the community center of Rehavia, Talbia, German Colony, Old Katamon, Nayot, Yemin Moshe & the Greek Colony - the Jerusalem neighborhoods --"Ginot Ha'ir" (The City's Gardens).
The meeting was divided into 2 parts:
1. Acquaintance between the participants of the meeting and a few words about the current happenings within the neighborhoods of "Ginot Ha'ir" from Maggie Goodman and from Shaike El Ami Executive director of the ICCC, the community center of "Ginot Ha'ir".
2. During the second part of the meeting we got to know more about the English speakers' needs as a community and as individuals. The subjects that were raised included: the building of the 4 Seasons Hotel in the German colony, the dirt and noise from the restaurants of Emek Refaeim street, crime in Jerusalem, lack of green parks for the community, issues of preservation of houses in the neighborhoods and the lack of information in English about what is going on.
Decisions that were taken:
A. We will start working on regular information that will be sent in English to the residents of "Ginot Ha'ir".
B. A few of the people that came to the meeting volunteered to meet again in a small group to plan the continuation of the English speakers forum. The volunteers are: Stephen Rosenberg, Minette Warnick, Naomi Gerecht, , Peter Wishbrgh, Shirley Schein, Karen Lakin, Naomi Stolper, Jackie Glick , Rozy Badichi & Jerry Goodman.
