[EMD-IEM-UTP] CSR UPDATES

Good evening everyone , 

We had a meeting on the 7/11/2013 (Thursday) to discuss on our CSR project . with this email i have attached the MOM for the meeting .

We previously agreed on making a CSR to an orphanage but unfortunately as informed by the orphanages , all orphanage would practically be empty during the school holidays as the occupants will have returned home to their family members.

The meeting conducted on Thursday was to figure out a solution on this problem and we have agreed on making the CSR to either an OKU / Warga Tua shelter . 

Once we have received the response by the shelters , we will be able to proceed with the other tasks as planned.

Hey guys,

So here are the updates from Perrasanth and Lim after attempting to call the OKU and WARGA TUA house. I'll just quote their entire text message so that the message will not be changed unknowingly

"Ok, so lim n I called them up, n some of them didnt pick up. But firstly, there's 2 types, kediaman n harian. Harian is like daycare center so holidays no one will be there, so only can go kediaman. But all in all, they all said that most of the occupants are mentally challenged, and said they wont be able to participate in activities. At most can sponsor food like that oni."

"The ones Lim called for the Warga Tua , 2 of them said can. The ones I called 1 said can. For the one I called, she said she doesnt want us to clean the place cos we'll mess up. She also doesnt encourage us to provide lunch because they have vry specific diet, so she said we should just go there, talk to them, n cheer them up. She also suggested that we give them door gifts and if we want we can provide tea at around 3-4pm."

Exactly. The results aren't promising. If no activity we can't merge with FRIC also. I hope we will come out with a solution soon

Hello guys. Good job on finding out those alternatives. The old folks' home you called said that 

1. We can go talk and cheer them up

2. We can prepare door gifts 

3. We can provide tea

I believe those are good enough. We are, after all, visiting senior citizens therefore lack of activities are expected so we have to make due what we can. Call them again and ask for confirmation for all 3 things. Also, ask them if there is anything else we can provide. Here are a few ideas I can come up with:

1. Spring cleaning of the old folks' home compound

2. Restocking food/toiletries

3. Mural painting

4. Collect clothes/books/etc

I hope that helps. Keep up the good work hope we can work something out with the old folks home.

If FIRC refuse to join it's okay I believe we have enough manpower to carry out the program. Yes, collaboration with other clubs is recommended but it is not compulsory. If the collaboration hinders our progress in carrying out our pre-planned activities then it beats the purpose of having to collaborate. 

Also, please ask IEM Perak and YES Perak if they would like to help out or contribute to the program. They might be interested with the noble idea.

First we need to call the old folks' home and ask them about what I have outlined earlier. Please have it done soon. Once finished calling,explain to FIRC what we intend to do at the old folks' home. If they decide to join us that's good but if they don't we'll still proceed with the program.

I called the rumah Warga Tua again today  and these are the information I got

  name:Pusat Jagaan Our home care centre

  activities allowed: spring cleaning, collect food and books, painting

  preferred time to visit :around 1.00 pm

btw the building there are quite big so the person said that there may be some problem with the painting

I think this old folks home should be OK...

Greetings, 

        The Old Folks Home that I have identified is 'Happy Old Folks' (the last home on the list). The activities that can be carried out there are

  1)  Provide tea at around 3pm

  2)  Give them door gifts

  3) Simply spending the time talking to them, providing company and cheering them up

   The suggested time for this visit is around 2pm - 5pm. The lady in charge suggests that we pay this home a visit beforehand to see the place and discuss with her regarding the menu that we are going to provide for the aforementioned tea time. We can state our budget and she will suggest a suitable menu for the residents of the home.

   Another thing worth noting is that the address of this 'Happy Old Folks' is not the same as the one on the given list. She says she has newer home and suggests that we go there instead. This home has approx. 60 residents and is more suitable if we were to go in a group of 20+ people. Plus, it is less frequented by UTP students.

Hello Everyone,

Here are the recent updates after attending the council meeting tonight. Before i update you all i would like to apologies as the plan has been changed due to Ir.Perumal's suggestion. Initially we had our efforts concentrated on conducting a CSR to an old folks home but due to recent happenings , we are changing the CSR project to a donation drive which is to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan which happened in the Phillipines recently.Ir Perumal has instructed to conduct this CSR as most old folks home are somehow aidded by the government and this would be a change for us to host something new and relevant .Again i would like to express my sincere apologies and my gratefulness to my executives whom have worked hard on the previous CSR plan .
