A fabulous construction

I'm fond of this passage from Chris Salter, from his Entangled: Technology and the Transformation of Performance (the end of his chapter on "Bodies"):

But this feigned, supposedly modern tension between the humanistic body and the dehumanised machine that has so occupied us may be, in reality, a fiction- a fabulous construction drawing a false line between poles that are always in the process of being blurred. If machines remaining outside of human flesh also exhibit expression, agency, efficiency, and virtuosity, just like human bodies, then what are the repercussions of machines performing? Why and how  do  they  perform,  and- last  but  not  least-  for whom? (Salter, 2010)

I'd like to see how the Live Coding community will maintain this "fabulous construction"...how will the community continue to "nurture" this entanglement and will the community's response serve to push live coding and related areas (live code dancing, live notation, live patching,  live Youtube…) to a truly "trans"disciplinary area.  I have my own challenges and questions about this; first and foremost,  is the analytical cognitive mode inherent in live coding rich enough to sustain a practice and an interest in developing a practice.  I think "yes", but I doubt it will only be, say, an artistic practice.
