Embrilliance software has a knockdown stitches feature that inserts background stitches around a monogram or design to knockdown the loops on terry cloth. This allows for a clearer, prettier monogram. It provides better results than just using an overlay stabilizer. Does anyone know how this can be done with embird?

You can do this really easily with Font Engine in Editor. On the Properties page under the Parameters button is an option – Fill Exterior Box … with a check box next to it. Click that box. Then in the settings box to the right, enter how much bigger this box should be around the outside of your letter/monogram. Now the settings will apply to a box around the letter, not the letter itself. Then go to the Fill Parameters window and set it to use a Motif stitch. You can also set a border (satin or otherwise) around the edges.

If you also want to stitch the letter, not just an empty space inside, that takes a second step. Just open Font Engine again, uncheck the box for Fill Exterior and then the program will create the letter.

There is an instructional file on my Yahoo Group, AbsolutelyEmbird, on making an “embossed” letter in Font Engine. You’ll find it in the Files > Mini Lessons folder. It was written by a group member.
