Subject: Need help with Access Violation problem using EMBIRD
Hoping someone has dealt with this issue to resolution ... I keep getting the error message "Access violation at address XXX in module EMBIRD.EXE". I've already uninstalled and reinstalled from the EMBIRD website, updated my passwords but still no luck. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, SMUSE4. I disabled my anti-viruses and successfully installed 2015.
I was going crazy by installing and removing the Embird program multiple times.
Thank you,
Pamela
Have you tried a cold boot of the computer? Not just a Restart, but Power it down. Let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes. Then turn it back on.
Are you running on Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8? Did you INSTALL by saving the installation file to your computer first, and then right clicking the downloaded file and choosing Run as Administrator? Skipping this step can cause problems with Embird not being able to write its stuff into the appropriate parts of Windows and being allowed to run them later.
After installing Embird properly, try running it as an administrator. Shut Embird down. Right click the desktop icon and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. Click the Compatibility tab in the new window. Click on the box next to Run this Program as an Administrator. If running on Windows 8, you may also want to check the box next to Compatibility mode and choose to run it like it is on Windows 7. I don’t have to do that but some do … Now, click on Apply/OK. And see if Embird runs OK.

Hi Judith,
First, I would upgrade to the latest version. We are on build 10.11 and some of the glitches have been ironed out.
I would do a fresh install since you are having issues. That would mean getting rid of everything Embird before reinstalling. I have a document for that on my Yahoo Groups (see links below). You’ll find the FreshInstall.pdf file in the Files section under the Embird Help folders on both groups. There is one specifically for Windows 7 but it works great for Windows 8 too. Everyone is welcome to join. And there is lots of help in the archived messages too.
If that doesn’t take care of the errors, try installing directly into the c:/drive, not into Program Files. Program Files is a restricted folder and some computers really don’t like having some programs installed there. You can change the installation folder on the page where you enter your name and address during the installation.

Try installing into c:/Embird32 (or c:/Embird64) instead of the default folder. You can change the location on the page during the installation where you input your name, address, etc. Be sure to right click the installation file and run as administrator if running on Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1. Some computers are over-protective of their Program Files folders.
