I just downloaded the demo and am looking for software that allows me to convert .jpeg or .png images to embroidery files. I am limited to a 4x4 hoop and .pes/.dst format only. Can I do this, and if so, how? I've figured out how to import the image but cannot find info on converting it to a file I can use.

Thanks!

Wish I could say that you could just click on a button and convert an image file to an embroidery file, but it just doesn’t work that way. You wouldn’t use Embird basic but would also need Embird Studio – the digitizing tools.  And then there is not magic button. You’ll need to learn how to use the tools in Studio to create an embroidery file using the image file as a template. There are some automatic tools like Trace that might make it easier but it still takes more than a click here and a click there to make it stitch well.

You can also do auto-digitizing with the combination of Studio and Font Engine, but it requires a true vector image in WMF, EMF or CMX format. You cannot just convert the PNG file to EMF and have it work though. The necessary vector objects just won’t be in there. There are image programs that can help you get around this limitation but then that is something else to learn to do. I am not a big fan of auto-digitizing and prefer to use the tools in Studio to create every piece in my design from start to finish.

You can try out Studio along with Embird basic (Editor and Manager) but you won’t be able to save your work from it in trial mode.

Hi Astrid,

What you are asking to do can be done with “Studio”, but to get to that point you will have to know and understand many things.  You can bring a picture in and auto-trace, but it will not be good at all, not really in any software. Still you can download the Studio trial and give it a try.

You need Studio to digitize in Embird.  You cannot save anything in the demo versions.  Save is disabled until the software is purchased.  Depending on how complex the image file is you might find a program that would auto-digitize it correctly, but if the file is complex at all, then you would need to learn at least the basics of digitizing to convert.  There really isn’t any magic wand (or program)  Sorry.  Linda I
