Hello: My questions doesn't have anything to do with saving files, but hopefully you can point me in the right direction. I have a design that is too large for my 5x7 hoop. I have the 5x12 hoop, but have no idea how to even begin to know how to use it. Could you please send me some directions on how to use this with Embird? Thank you so much!

You need to be in Editor.
Open an applique design. Be sure to right click on the first
color box in the right panel – the one right next to
the design thumbnail. This SHOULD be the placement stitch
for the applique design. A menu will open up and underneath
the color change options you should see Save Cutting File
… If you are not getting right click menus you may
need to reinstall.
 The free Embird
tutorial will walk you through the basic steps and has
screenshots http://www.embird.net/sw/embird/tutorial/saveaplq/saveaplq.htm
 Not all applique designs are
going to be digitized so they work perfectly. Some may need
a little editing. My video tutorial walks you through the
basics and then shows you ways of dealing with multi-fabric
applique designs and designs that aren’t digitized
quite the way the software needs in order to create a
perfect SVG/FCM file.http://www.flywithembird.net/Embird/Videos/VECutter1.html

Hi Glenda,

That would be the Brother Jumbo Overlap hoop. Your design has to be split into sections that fit into the 5x7 hoop area. When  you choose that hoop in Editor, you’ll see some colored dashed lines. Those lines are the areas the pieces of the designs must fit into. Embird has a text tutorial showing how you can split for an overlap hoop and how to save the design once you get it split. Be sure to follow the SAVE directions for the Brother machine.

http://www.embird.net/sw/embird/tutorial/savebro/savebro.htm

At the machine, you’ll load the file, choose the 1st part of the design, set the hoop into the position for that piece, and sew. Then you’ll load in the 2nd part, slide the hoop into that position, and stitch, and repeat for the final piece.
