Hi Mary,
Fonts and alphabets from 3rd parties are not used the same way that Embird Alphabets are used. In order to do as the tutorial suggests, you must own Embird 2013 or 2015 AND Font Engine. There is a new plug-in that allows you to type in 3rd party - or ready-made alphabets - when you own that combination. You'll find it under the Insert menu in Editor - Ready Made Alphabet Text.
It can take a little work. If the person you purchased from also owns Embird they may have provided you with a TXT file without the work done for you. You would just have to put that TXT file in the same folder with your alphabet files. Open the plug-in by going to Insert and choosing Ready Made Alphabet text. Then Load your Alphabet (instructions for doing that are in the free tutorial, link below).
If there is no TXT file you may need to do a little more than load on the alphabet in order to make it easy to type in. There are free directions on the Embird website.
I also have a video lesson for sale on my website that will walk you through several scenarios using this plug-in.
Hope that helps some.
