FONAT is the Friends of North Andover Trails, a dedicated and fun bunch of
folks who do a monthly outing to some open space in or near North Andover.
This coming weekend, they're doing a hike to Sudden Pond, in the southeastern
part of Harold Parker State park: Sunday Apr 10, at 1:00 PM EDT. I'm
planning on joining them for that, barring really unfavorable weather.

They'll meet at the park Headquarters, approximately 42.6155,-71.0728, along
Middleton Rd. Parking is free. The FONAT leaders know who I am and would
welcome more barefooters joining the festivities. They usually want a token
waiver of some sort signed, not that there's any particular peril on this
outing.
Harold Parker is very close to me, where I attend and often lead hikes almost
every Wednesday morning, so I'm quite familiar with the area. The terrain
around Sudden Pond is generally quite foot-friendly. There's a stretch of
paved road to get from Headquarters down to the access trail, which is closed
to general motor traffic but is in fairly good shape.
