I haven't been up to Reading Town Forest since they rebuilt the burned-down
country club and built a new parking lot for the Forest, so I'm planning on
wandering down to it this coming Sunday, May 11. The weather should have
finally improved by then. I did one or two "beginner" barefoot hikes there
pre-covid, because much of the terrain is soft pine-needle carpet or plain
ol' dirt and not too much gravelly stuff. So it's time for another visit,
and anyone who wants to join me is encouraged to do so! Say, around noon?
Sorry for the relatively short notice, May's already being busy...

is where the new lot is. I think going in from the west side is a little
easier on the feet; we walk up a smooth recycling-center access and across
a field and then there it is. The park can also be accessed from the east
at the Wood End school field off Sunset Rock Lane, which is how we went in
last time, but that's a little rough on some first segments. Best way up
from Boston is probably 93 to 129 east, left at the first light onto Grove
St and keep going up past the golf club a little bit.
In looking at the equivalent

I'm also realizing that the new lot hasn't been mapped into Open Streetmap
yet, so that'll be another goal for the day.
