GPIO Box Schema and ReadOnly matrices

The L-S-B GPIO Box Schema indicates that the GPIO input matrix should be ReadOnly. What is the recommended method to define a read only matrix.

Possibly this is somewhat of a repeat of an earlier post concerning specifying access on a GlowMatrix, but thought I'd contribute a post to to clarify the issue.
