Hello All,

I'm wondering ... just how deeply are we delving into the literature
and philosophy for this section of the project? A few citations, an
exhaustive search.... 3 pithy, relevant quotes?

Not having done a project like this before, I'm not sure what's
needed...

Thanks for any guidance.

Pat-
Last year my project had 3 sources, and 4 quotes, and that section
ended up being about 2 pages.
I also included last year's "focus" book, so if you can use anything
Prensky had to offer to tie into the technololgy and partnering theme
that would be good.

Hi all,

For my research project I will be using an online platform
(shelfari.com or something similar) to support the independent reading
habits of seventh/eighth grade language arts students.

Does anyone have suggestions for readings/research I could look into
for my philosophy and literature section of my proposal? I have a few
sources, but I am particularly interested in reading more deeply about
independent reading and allowing students to choose the books they
read.

Thanks,
Andrea

Andrea-
I took a great course last summer on Adolescent Reading Strategies.
We used the book Engaging Adolescents in Reading, edited by John
Guthrie.
(2008, Corwin Press)
There was a lot of info on self-efficacy ,control/choice, and
motivation.
