Location: Raleigh, NC

Terms: 6-12months Contract to Hire

Worker Status: Citizen / GC  only for now

Skills Needed:  Teradata / ETL development,  Unix/Linus shell, Job scheduling.

Must be onsite in Raleigh/Durham, NC; no travel, no remote

US Citizen / Green Card/ GC EAD only

Must be onProvide consulting to Managed Services customers on how to effectively administer, maintain, troubleshoot and operate the Teradata platform and database environment and Implement and operate all Teradata tools and utilities. Assist with the management of workload and query performance, and utilize specialized Teradata tools such as Teradata Manager, Viewpoint Query Analyzer, and TASM tuning parameters as required to throttle workload and improve performance.

Application DBA responsibilities included creating database objects such as users and tables, monitoring and managing user sessions, monitoring system and query performance and tuning poorly performing queries. The Managed Services DBA also performs space management; data access management, administers security and access profiles, and performs backup and recovery operations.

This position requires prior production support experience with the ability manage multiple large enterprise class production and non-production systems. Ability to effectively interface with Teradata’s GSC and manage service requests, incidents and problem resolution processes is required. Knowledge of change management and deployment and control of production releases is essential . Candidates for this position should have experience utilizing Teradata performance data as reported through Teradata’s proprietary PMCP/PDCR performance and capacity planning tool set and other Teradata performance management utilities.


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or foreign equivalent, with a Masters degree in computer science or quality related disciplines desirable. Five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience is required. This experience must include experience administering the Teradata database in a large production environment either as a customer DBA or performed as a Managed Service. Advanced level skills related to workload analysis, characterization , tuning and performance management is required. Travel is generally not required as position is a long term assignment in a specific customer location.


Basic Qualifications:
• 5 plus years experience in computer technology or related fields within
the last 8 years.
• Must have 5 years minimum of Teradata experience working as a production infrastructure, application or development DBA
• BS/BA degree 
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office components and personal
computers (for generating the many reports required by the customer).
• Strong problem solving skills with demonstrated experience managing and resolving work requests and change requests
