About the team
The Guidance, Navigation and Control team in the Satellite Engineering group provides engineering solutions to a variety of satellite modules, related to estimation and control systems. Responsibilities range from design to detailed engineering implementation, to specification verifications and requirement validations, which in turn are executed using model, software or hardware in the loop setups, according to need.
The team focuses on state of the art techniques for estimation and control loop design and validation, considering the context in which different satellite modules operate, thus interdisciplinary work with other engineering teams is essential.
About the job
As a Focal plane GNC engineer you will work on the design, implementation and validation of the many estimation and control solutions required to stabilize the imagery captured by the satellites of the fleet. You will work closely with other module engineers, which will support your activities with specific expertise when required.
In this role, you will:
- Manage the requirements for the estimation and control loops and establish appropriate technical budgets
- Set up your simulation environment, and produce required sensors, actuators and system models
- Develop a solution to meet the requirements, and validate it in model, software or hardware in the loop as required
- Assist in the implementation, testing and integration of the solution at all levels, from ground prototyping to orbit testing and production support
- Produce feedback to the systems engineering module representatives to improve performance of the system
- Participate in technology and performance improvements discussions for future module generations
Preferred locations are Argentina or Uruguay. Other options might be considered.
About you Required experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace engineering, Control engineering, Electronics engineering or related fields.
- Background or coursework in controls and/or estimation theory will be valued.
- 3+ years (5+ is a plus) of experience working on field application estimation and control projects
- Software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing of embedded control systems is a strong plus
- Motion control applications experience is a strong plus
Required skills
- Knowledge of detection, estimation, and information fusion applied theory
- Knowledge of classic and modern control applied theory
- Ability to analyze problems and search for solutions, always exploring multiple alternatives
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in excellent English at all hierarchical levels
- Excellent people, time, and risk management skills
- Empathy, initiative, accountability
