Hello All,

I am new to cryo-ET and EMAN2 and am currently setting up the EMAN2 tomography tutorial. I noticed that the tutorial dataset includes either three or four tilt series (for the small and large datasets) that are used to reconstruct a tomogram.

My question is regarding the use of multiple tilt series in this context. Isn't a tomogram typically reconstructed from a single tilt series? In what cases does using multiple tilt series for tomogram reconstruction apply, and what should the data collection strategy be in such scenarios?

A single tomogram is reconstructed from a single tilt series. This represents a large field of view, and in the case of the tutorial data set, includes hundreds or thousands of individual particles. After reconstructing the tomograms, the tutorial includes subtomogram averaging which uses particles drawn from multiple tomograms.
