No buffer focus after split window

I've been noticing that whenever I split a window, e.g. C-x 2 or C-x 3 there is no focused buffer. I have to mouse click back into the buffer I just split (I know, poor me). Anyhow, it seems like a bug. Any chance split window could either put the focus on the newly split buffer or at least leave it in the split from buffer?

Actually, I'm using Oxygen.1a (4.7.1a). Not sure why I typed Neon.
