Hi,

The marketplace finds the emacs+ plugin, and install finds the four packages, but it hangs when I click on "confirm."  The error I get is:

"Communication with repository at http://.../update-site failed,  Read timed out"

Does the confirm stage use a different port that might be blocked?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Elliott

Occasionally people report a transient problem with the install.  I only see one error on the marketplace site for Emacs+ in the past week (it doesn't seem to give more specific information) regarding a filter problem with the maccmd package.  Were you attempting the install from a mac?

In any case, you can use the update site directly, which may work better: http://www.mulgasoft.com/emacsplus/e4/update-site

Hi,

I didn't try to download any of the mac stuff, just the two other packages.

It probably didn't register an error since it simply timed out trying to connect during the confirm stage.  I've tried this about 5 or 6 times over the past 5 days or so, same problem each time.

I'm totally new to Eclipse, what should I download directly from the update site and how do I install it?

Thanks,

Elliott

From Eclipse go to Install New Software; in the dialog that appears select Add and enter the url from the previous email and click Ok; select the packages you and want then follow the yellow brick road (I mean follow the prompts).

1) You may want to do this in a fresh Eclipse if you have cruft left over from the other attempts.
2) I assume you are using Luna or thereabouts (prior to Kepler, there is a different url for installation)

Hi,

Tried that again, get "Could not find http://...".  Must be the company firewall, although I can get to that web site from Chrome.

How about a manual install?  I really don't want to download the source and build it, can I get a binary for Windows 7 that Eclipse can just import?

Thanks,

Elliott

Elliott,
If you don't want to build from source, you should be able to set up a local update <site> with plugins and features subdirectories.

Assuming your firewall will allow you to download the files from the update site and its subdirectories (the highest version of each jar) and put them in the corresponding directories in you <site> and then use <site> as a local update site in the Install New Software.

Let me know if that works for you.

This fails for me too. Installing via http://www.mulgasoft.com/emacsplus/e4/update-site, select all component for Emacs+. Status show "Calculating requiements and dependencies.", then switches to "Cannot perform operation. Computing alternate solutions, may take a while 1/15". Sits there for a long time incrementing the numerator but not looking like it is going to complete in any reasonable time.

No firewall, no proxy. Mars 2.5.0, 20150621-1200

Hi,

Finally started Java programming again, still no luck.

I downloaded all the files from the mulgasoft site and placed them in a folder, as you instructed.  I told Eclipse to load new files from the folder (not from a web site).  It found and loaded everything, no errors.

But none of the key bindings work!  I just have the default Eclipse bindings.  I see the plugin listed in the Installed Software popup, everything I look at seems fine, but nothing works.

Do I need to change the site.xml file somehow?  Or tell Eclipse to enable the plugin?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Elliott

Oops...never mind, I didn't have the correct key scheme chosen...
