does anyone use smex with Prelude?

I am a total noob with Prelude (just installed it today). I have some minor experience with Emacs. I have previously been using smex, which I love, as it suggests commands to me as I type. 

I've been playing around with Prelude for a few hours. It looks like Prelude sometimes suggests to me the commands that I have available to me? This seems inconsistent but maybe I'll eventually see the pattern to it. 

Does anyone use smex with Prelude, or does Prelude have functionality that makes it seem irrelevant?
