What happened to the control-<digit> selection?

It was a nice feature.

What was the reason?

It has slowed down my selection of a candidate. Now that I am forced to
use cursor up/down more, I have noticed that the selection will
occasionally jump to another line. For example: 1) I type enco 2) press
<right> twice to move to another source 3) after half a second the
selection jumps to the first source.

(setq helm-completion-window-scroll-margin 0)

Do you think it shouldn't be enabled by default?  I do find it useful to see upcoming lines before scrolling to he edge.  The reason for "enable by default" was because I was worried that people would never look for it, but they would look for it if they found it annoying.

It just make me sick seeing the display moving :-)

Agree, keep this default value, people can see it in customize easily.
We can document it in the wiki also.
