Hi,

I usually copy text from mini-buffer. For example to copy file path of current buffer I do "C-x C-v" (load-alternate-file). The path is displayed in the mini buffer which I then copy and CTRL+G to cancel the load-alternate.
With helm I'm unable to copy the text displayed in mini buffer (or the helm list). There might be a way to do this, but I'm unable to find it.  Any pointers would be helpful.

Just to re-iterate the question is: How do I copy/paste text in mini-buffer when helm is active?

Cheers

Or even faster, to directly kill and exit, C-c C-k.

When completing file names, the current binding of
`helm-ff-transformer-show-only-basename' determines whether these
operations include the complete paths. You might want to set it to t in
your config, but you can also toggle this on the fly with C-].

No, `C-c C-y' copy the current selection in the minibuffer.

What the OP wants is `C-c C-k' which copy not the content of minibuffer,
but the display part of current selection.
To kill the real candidate use `C-u C-c C-k'.

We should clarify the docstring of `helm-kill-selection-and-quit' wrt
what the "real" candidate/value is. In the context of file
completion for example, this is not obvious.

We should say something like "this normally uses the candidate as
displayed in the completions buffer, but with prefix arg, the real
candidate is used. That's the same value as it is passed to the
actions."

Or so.

I opened https://github.com/emacs-helm/helm/issues/576 for this.
