I've long since lost the sync dongle for syncing my fitbit flex with my PC. Rather than having to get a brand new dongle, I'd love to see a feature to sync over my laptop's built in bluetooth. My laptop is bluetooth 4.0 supported so I don't see why I need a superfluous dongle!

A Windows 8.1 laptop that has bluetooth on it, and uses the Fitbit App should not need a dongle to sync. It should sync through the bluetooth just like your phone so that you do not need to waste your usb plugs with a dongle. What is the point using a dongle if you have bluetooth?

I also agree! My Fitbit is smarter than my smart phone and will not sync to my android. I have many co-workers that also have Fitbits and I ended up taking my doggle to work so I could sync there but I would also like to be able to update at home especially on weekends. I have a brand new bluetooth enabled 8.1 laptop at home that cannot sync either unless I remember to bring my doggle back and forth everyday,

There are plenty of modern Windows-based devices that natively support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). If I enumerate BLE devices from my Windows 8.1 tablet (a Lenovo Yoga), I can see my One - but I still have to sacrifice one of my two USB ports if I want to sync - this is silly. Please support native BLE hardware on Windows platforms. Users of Surface, Yoga and other ultralights can't afford to waste precious USB ports on the fitbit dongle.

i think many of you are confused. conor95 is talking about the fitbit app for W8.x. the W8.x has a modern ui app that works with the dongle now. many new W8.x pc, laptops, tablets, hybrids such as surface pro have bluetooth 4.0. built in but the app isn't using it . bt4.0 is used by some smartphones and is required by fitbit with these apps. my surface pro bt sees my fitbit, just cant sync without dongle until fitbit adds this connection to existing app. it would seem to be a simple thing for an accomplished programmer.

Yes Windows 10 Fitbit app works with devices with Bluetooth 4.0 now. The app is laid out better. Needs a few tweaks. It also works with Cortana. it appears the time since last sync is fixed. Thanks FitBit. btw FitBit has the best support I've ever seen.

@Conor95This feature is currently available for the Windows 10 Fitbit App! If your computer supports Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, it can directly sync using the PC/tablet's Bluetooth hardware instead of requiring use of the sync dongle. Click here for more details.

Thanks for posting on the Feature Request Board, see you around!

Hiya. I'm a bit confused. I bought a Vodafone Dongle a few weeks ago and the data on it as run out. I am struggling to top it up as it requires a mobile number to do so. The Vodafone website says it's under the diagnostics on the website but it just says 'number unknown' on there. I can't seem to get more data without a mobile number. Can anyone help me navigate my way round this please?

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having issues getting your number @khannaford. As @AnnS suggested, I'd also recommend that you reach out to us over on Twitter or Facebook here with your account number handy, we'd be more than happy to help you find out the number linked to your mobile broadband router

When you first process the mobile broadband order, we typically send a confirmation email which would show the Vodafone account number linked to your account @khannaford. I'd recommend that you search your emails for that initial email from us to see if you can find that account number - we'll need it to verify your identity over social media. An alternative would be to pop into your local Vodafone store with the SIM in question and some photographic I.D, they'll be more than happy to assist you in finding out your number there too. You can find out what stores are local to you here.

The SIM can certainly be inserted into a phone to find the number. An easier way is to look at the mobile connect software this would have been installed when you first used the dongle. Vodafone certainly don't make this obvious from here: Getting Started with Mobile Broadband and seem to assume a new customer would know how to find the number for adding a data pack and this should be included on the website.

I have not tried an usb-wifi-adaptor but I just recently tried an usb-lan-adaptor with my S7 and it just worked fine, so I would just give it a try, maybe it simply works without the need for an extra app(?)

On my S7edge I just tried 3 WiFi dongles I know work under Linux.
Nothing happened at all basically and I do remember having tried this in the past, without any real success.
Here is a summary, I found back then maybe it helps you:

Can anyone help. I have limited usb ports on my computer (HP Laptop) and I want to connect the wireless mouse to it without the dongle. However I cannot get the mouse to be recognised by the computer?

A wireless mouse connects with the matching wireless receiver ( the matching dongle). Without the dongle, it will not have a connection, unless it uses Bluetooth and your laptop uses Bluetooth. Without the complete model number of the mouse and the laptop, unable to help further.

From the product information page, it says nothing about Bluetooth, so I have to assume it uses the normal 2.4GHz signal similar to WiFi but it needs the USB receiver designed for the mouse. The work around would be to replace the dongle or get a different mouse that has a dongle.

Sorry for jumping in. As you said, it is a Link-5 dongle therefore you can buy a new Link-5 receiver and RE-PROGRAM it. Otherwise buying a new set because each mouse must have a code to talk with its receiver (dongle). Just thinking a small room with 20 people who use SAME coded mice/receivers, must be very interesting.

All wireless mice are not create equal. Need the make and model of the mouse and it would be helpful to have the make and model of the PC, too. That info is needed to give advice to @yousofza 's question/statement.

I have an HP 500RG ENVY Rechargeable Mouse Model #HSA-S002M AND MY BRAND NEW HP ENVY 17T notebook lacks USB ports (they want you to buy an extension cord with more ports) so to save a port I want to use my mouse over Wi-Fi. Any ideas? Is this IMPOSSIBLE...??? Why has no on e already done this...???

NEW! Our USB-C Ethernet Adapters now have a powered option. You can connect to the Internet and charge your device at the same time-and be safely grounded. Use the internet more safely with the SaferTech adapter that is free from cellular and WiFi EMF! Surf the internet, Zoom and chat with a messaging app like What's App or Signal, without WiFi EMF radiation! (NOTE: You won't be able to make a phone call in airplane mode, but many of our favorite messaging services, like Signal sound better than a call anyway.)

These awesome USB-c Ethernet dongles lets you go online without WiFi! How great is that!! And with it's metal housing and metal RJ45 connectors, your connection is grounded so there is less nasty electrical EMF.

When you use a grounded dongle and our SaferTech Cat8 Shielded cable you'll also reduce your exposure to AC electric fields when you hold your phone, tablet or a laptop that's running off battery. BUT it's important to remember that all parts of your Wired Experience must be grounded.

If the Ethernet Outlet or WiFi you're plugging our beautiful Safertech Shielded Ethernet Cables into has a plastic non-grounded connection, you can still be exposed to Dirty Electricity. YUK!

I found I needed a USB-C Ethernet adapter for my new iPad. I emailed TechWellness and was given a link to order it. It works wonderfully. My EMF detector from TechWellness shows me 10 when the iPad is dong anything. This is great!!

This device is very easy to use. I own a Samsung A32, and when I connected my phone to the cable, all I had to do was press a button that appeared on my phone to connect it via ethernet. Also, I have a certain degree of hypersensitivity to EMFs, but with this device, I can use my cell phone with minimal problems.

I also have a HA setup in Docker without a Bluetooth dongle. I setup the Bluetooth Proxy from the website (ESPHome Bluetooth Proxy). Everything looks fine. The ESP is setup and available in HA, but no Bluetooth Devices are discovered.

Apart from that one BT device (Ruuvi tag), the proxy is not able to find anything else, even though there are BT devices close by that work perfectly in their own app, such as Inkbird (which I used to test this).

Does your Shelly device have Bluetooth? Is it enabled?
If HA can see the Bluetooth functionality then you will have a Configure option where you can enable scanning. No configure option then HA cannot see the BT on the device.

From public Wi-Fi networks to cellular data, you still have multiple ways to access the internet without a broadband connection. So, here are some ways to get Wi-Fi without an Internet Service Provider.

The best way to ensure you have the internet on your laptop is to use a mobile hotspot. Today, most of us have smartphones with an LTE or even 5G cellular connection. So, why not use that instead of paying for a new broadband connection for your home?

Despite being a couple of years old, the Verizon Jetpack MiFi 8800L is probably still the best 4G hotspot available. It uses Qualcomm's X20 modem and supports 11 LTE bands. It provides both 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands, supports guest connections, and allows you to connect up to 15 devices to the network at once.

The device is no longer available on the Verizon website, but you can still get it on Amazon for $149. Additionally, if you're looking for a faster 5G hotspot for your Verizon connection, you can also consider the Orbic Speed 5G UW.

The device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU, a Snapdragon X50 5G modem, 4GB of RAM, support for Bluetooth and Ethernet connections, all-day battery life, and the ability to connect up to 20 devices at the same time. It runs Android.
