It prevents the center of the rollover target from going to high and it also pushes down on the leaf switches.
I also got her going for the most part. Here is a quick vid of the first game played since getting her going

PBR says to use a #6 tap and a 6-32 x 1/4" nylon screw. Didn't have any nylon screws handy so I used metal ones. Worked just as good.
