EMI President Jo Leinen meets the new EP President Martin Schulz
The EMI is promoting European democracy and the participation of the citizens in the integration process. At a meeting on 9th February 2012, Jo Leinen and Martin Schulz had an exchange of views about the new role of the European Parliament. After the Lisbon treaty and the new intergovernmental fiscal agreement, transparency of decision-making and democratic accountability are the keys for connecting the citizens with the European project.
EMI president Jo Leinen invited Martin Schulz for a public event on future steps towards more unity in Europe to be held in May 2012.
