EMI President Jo Leinen meets with ELDR President Graham Watson
At a meeting on 8th February, Jo Leinen and Graham Watson agreed on a cooperation between the European Movement International and the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party for a European Union close to citizens. In the run-up to the European Elections 2014, the EMI will organise debates between the top candidates and work together with European Parties to mobilise voters for the elections.
Concerned by the growing euro-scepticism in the United Kingdom, Jo Leinen and Graham Watson proposed to work closely with the European Movement UK and pro-European forces in the UK's parliament, especially in view of a referendum in the country about the membership in the European Union.
