I saw a Meadowlark on the Cloquet Line today, just north of intersection with Knoll Way. I have only seen one other in Ely before, on Miner's Drive back in Oct 2024. For both of these sightings I have posted it to eBird as Eastern/Western as it looks like both are possible here. Has anyone had a definitive Eastern or Western sighting here (eg based on song)?
Cheers

A number of years ago I documented a western meadowlark nest and several other singing males on the old LTV tailings basin north of Hoyt Lakes. I've also seen a few meadowlarks pass through in spring that I took to be eastern meadowlarks based only on plumage.
