It's time again to help us at the Offal Wildlife Watching project learn more about guts! Every year about 150,000 deer are hunted in Minnesota. Hunters leave behind about 3 million pounds of nutritious offal (gut piles) on the landscape afterthey field dress their deer, which is a normal and expected part of hunting. How this offal fits into wildlife food webs is still not well understood but you can help us learn more! If you're hunting this year, register here to tell us you're willing and able to set up a trail camera to capture images of scavenger visitors to your gut pile (we have cameras to loan out for use). If you're not hunting, you can still help us identify and classify what's happening in all of our project images at our Zooniverse page. Learn more at: offal.umn.edu or get in touch at of...@umn.edu or 612-626-0109.
