Hello Loon Lovers-
As the loons are surely starting to feel zugunruhe – the urge to head south for the winter from their breeding lakes – so we at Jocassee Wild Outdoor Education are getting excited for their return! We are pleased to announce the seventh year of the study of loon behavior in winter, and our second year of research into spring migration of loons as they use Lake Jocassee as a significant stop-over lake. As in years past, Dr. Jay Mager will be the lead investigator for the winter research, and Dr. Jim Paruk will head the spring research. Dr. Nina Schock, executive director of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation is a regular contributor as well.
The winter schedule is as follows:
Full Session Feb. 26-March 11
Week One Session Feb. 26-March 4
Week Two Session March 5-March 11
The Spring schedule is as follows:
March 26-April 1
COST-
Two week participants- $2900.00
One week participants- $1550.00
Commuters- $975.00 per week
Reservations require a 500 dollar deposit. The balance will be due 30 days prior to your scheduled session.
All reservations are 100% refundable until 30 days prior to your registered session.
As in prior years, we are limiting each session to no more than 12 volunteers. You may make your reservation by calling our office at 864-280-5501. Booking online will cost a 6% booking fee.
