I haven't had time to check out the link included below, but it sounds like
a fabulous new tool for anyone wanting to take a deep (or even just shallow)
dive into MN birds.

Subject: New feature on the MOU web page.
The Electronic Communications Committee of the MOU is pleased to announce a
new source on our web site. This page, which can be accessed at
http://moumn.org/avian/overlay.php
is unlike any birding resource we have offered before. All breeding data for
all Minnesota bird species can be mapped here, plus there is full additional
mapping access to the MOU's current and historical information on summer
occurrence, winter occurrences, migration, and even out of range or out of
season records.
We also then supply multiple optional "overlays" for comparison, context,
and control. Among these additions to the map, we include the state's
primary EcoRegions, all the national forests, state forests, wayside rests,
Scientific and Natural Areas, WMAs, all the major watersheds, rivers, lakes,
forests, cities, BBS Routes, waterfowl production areas, sewage ponds
(400+), public water access, and many others. Even a GPS grid can be added
to a map. The result is a rich combination of breeding bird data in a
dynamic, customizable, multi-level context of ecological, natural, and
artificial geospatial information.
This page was designed and implemented by the MOU's volunteer Electronic
Communications Committee, and David Cahlander was the sole architect of the
underlying code. This was no small feat. Dave and Anthony Hertzel have been
working on this page for nearly a year, spending more than a thousand hours
designing the interface, researching the data, drawing the overlays,
writing the code, and trouble-shooting the results. We think the results
will be immensely useful.
