FOY Mourning Cloak

Today I saw a FOY mourning cloak butterfly at Eagles Nest.  I believe I saw them a couple of days ago from the car, but today I was able to walk up close to one and confirm its identification.   Adults hibernate over the winter and it is one of the longer lived butterflies - living up to a year.  Below is a link about them if interested.

We had our FOY Compton's tortoiseshell today here in Embarrass, and FOY broad-winged hawk. Wonderful spring day!
