to Ely Field Naturalists
With the pleasant spring weather, birds singing, plants progressing and places calling for visits, some members want to take a brief outing tomorrow morning to one of our favorite places.
Meet 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at the former Ely Chamber of Commerce parking lot next to Zups Market in Ely. We will carpool on Hwy 1 to the parking lot at the Birch Lake Dam and begin there to visit 3 locations with very old, large trees located on public land near the rivers and lake along Hwy.1.
We will spend about two hours,divided between the 3 sites. Feel free to bring your eyes, ears, binoculars, camera, etc. Beside being able to see the trees, birds, flowers, geology, and history of that area, there might be other discoveries. For certain there will be some of the larger white pine, aspen and willow trees to be seen anywhere.
