Shagawa River will probably begin to develop into open water and more wildlife through this month.
It turns out there were at least 4 trumpeter swans upriver from CR88 in the area of the bends.
There was also one drake mallard. There have been 5 or 4 in patches of open water farther d downstream off and on throughout the winter.
common goldeneyes also overwinter in rapid areas of open water that have oxygen and invertebrates.and show up in various locations. There were 4 drakes and a hen today. It will be interesting as more open water occurs and the courtship activity goes on through spring.
