to Ely Field Naturalists

Fernberg Road Field Trip - Wednesday morning, 8-10 a.m. - August 20
Meet at the Ely Chamber of Commerce and carpool to Rookie Pond, Tofte Lake Access and other spots to stop and look for late summer migrants near lakes or wetlands.

Field Naturalist Presentation - Wednesday 2:00 p.m. - August 20
Vermilion student athletes arrived on campus last week and other students will arrive by this weekend. Classes will begin next weekend.  While that migration of Ironhawks to Ely has been occurring, hummingbirds are still being reported locally, common nighthawk first migration reports have occurred, and bald eagles are the first numbers being counted moving past Hawk Ridge in Duluth.

Join me in Classroom NS111 at Vermilion Campus tomorrow.  Much of the upgraded remodeling is ready for classes to begin.  Check them out along with the newly designed restrooms that are now finished.

We will discuss who is migrating now and those migrants yet to move.  We will share information about changes at the college along with events upcoming at the College, with the Ely Field Naturalists, and elsewhere.  Classes begin next week and it's not too late to find something to enroll in.
Have you seen the library, Carl Gawboy mural, Ely-Winton Historical Society Museum, forest and trails, Disc Golf Course, etc.?  What courses and programs are offered.  What is the story of this college that started in 1922?
