We are so lucky to live is such a diverse habitat, marsh, river, pond, aspen woods and field.  Our list of breeding birds seems pretty complete this morning on Merlin Sound ID;

Red-eyed Vireo
Chestnut -sided Warbler
Song Sparrow
Common Yellowthroat ( what so common, anyway)
Chipping Sparrow
Black-capped Chickadee
Gray Catbird
Pied-billed Grebe
Least Flycatcher
Cedar Waxwing
Yellow-rumped Warbler
American Robin
American Goldfinch
Swamp Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
American Crow
Veery
Great Blue Heron
American Redstart
Easter Bluebird (now nesting near the road in a nest box)
Eastern Phoebe
Wood Duck
Common Loon
*Wood Thrush. Probably a mistake.
*American Bittern I know is here, but it's been silent lately.  And very stealthy.

All recorded in half an hour this morning.  We've seen them all, but we don't hear them all (especially me).  This device is nearly perfect.  It did record a Wood Thrush which we haven't seen and probably a mistake. That's not bad.

What a fabulous list of bird sightings.  I'm green with envy.  On my last visit to the area we had daily visits from Mourning, Chestnut sided  and Parula Warblers and Veerys.  The Northwoods is rich indeed in wildlife and beauty.  June
