We are fortunate to have the North St. Louis County Soil and Water Conservation District working with us in the Ely Area this year and preparing to help private landowners and our area in preparing in advance for projects in 2026.
Invasive species work has ebbed and flowed in the past with the continued understanding that partnerships and support from key agencies teaming up to provide support, resources and advanced planning has the greatest potential for success.
Make sure that you don't miss this workshop that is for you to be on board to look at your landscape, recognize the invasive species, mark woody invasives and be prepared to revitalize your property.
We know that the majority of the landowners in our area will find one or more of these tree or shrub species:
common buckthorn
Siberian peashrub
exotic bush honeysuckles
black locust
Amur maple
Cotoneaster
There have been a number of small property owners that have created landscape plans and then were able to do removal and replace to restore and control their landscape.
Enter the Classroom Building (center entrance) and join us tomorrow morning to learn more. There will be samples of woody invasives to identify and an optional walk to look at some field examples(they can be found most anywhere in town).
Feel free to share this invitation with others or groups.
