Besides the flourish and excitement as spring moves to summer, a lot of discoveries are being made.
- The dead loon that was taken to the Twin Cities for necropsy was found to have a puncture wound in the chest of a female probably occurring from an attack from another loon.
- Whip-poor-will calling near Moose Lake Road and a Canada Lynx sighting
- Laurentian tiger beetles are out on the sidewalks at Soudan Underground Mine and being photographed.
- Most summer resident birds are back, many species reported, and many already nesting.
- Turtles are moving ashore and to egg laying locations
- ECR groups are taking field trips and hikes with discoveries while visiting and making discoveries.
- Lots of exploring trails, forests, wetlands, lakes and rivers.
