I saw our first hummer in Babbitt this morning at 9 am at our feeder that was put out yesterday afternoon. This was just after seeing what looked like a Lapland Longspur on the ground feeding. I haven't seen one before. Are they passing through?

Yes they are now passing through, I saw one while working on a Breeding Bird
Atlas block yesterday afternoon.

Thanks for the collaboration on the Larkspur. It seems there are at least two pairs here now.
A male Rose Breasted Grosbeak (the first this year) was at the sunflower) awhile ago and also two very bright male goldfinches plus about 5-6 evening grosbeaks. A good bird day!

These birds graced our deck in central Illinois for about two weeks recently.  Grosbeak, indigo bunting, Eastern towhee, and so many brilliant goldfinches....we remained glued to our windows.  It is wonderful to know that they have made it to the Ey area.
