Snowshoe hare. We live on Klondike and our neighborhood is full of them. We had a batch of 4 or 5 leverets a couple of summers ago. They are precocial, like deer, born with fur and eyes open, able to move around shortly after birth. Rabbits are altricial, like puppies, hairless and with their eyes closed. We are out of the typical range in MN for Cottontails which stay a bit to the south as they prefer more open areas.

Steve, I looked at quite a few images of both Snowshoe Hare and Eastern Cottontail babies that Google found for me and quite a few (but not all) of the Snowshoes have the little white patch on top of their head but none of the Cottontails showed that feature.

Considering that and where we are located, it seems most likely to be a Snowshoe Hare.
