Dear Valerie,
The fight is already on to protect water in 2026. The Trump administration has put protection for Minnesota’s wetlands, downstream waters, and drinking water on the federal chopping block.
By narrowing the definition of “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) in the Clean Water Act, the new Trump EPA proposed rule would deregulate pollution and destruction of millions of acres of wetlands and headwater streams in Minnesota and across the United States.
Minnesota has approximately 10.6 million acres of wetlands, 11,800 lakes, and 92,000 miles of rivers and streams. Not just our wetlands, but our downstream lakes, creeks, rivers, and drinking water could all be contaminated.
Narrowing the definition of WOTUS under the Clean Water Act threatens Minnesotans’ right to clean drinking water and safe fish. The EPA needs to hear from you today.

Your voice will stand up against polluter and developer interests that want to exploit natural resources without protecting water, ecosystems, or people. Comment now to join many thousands of others in protecting Minnesota wetlands, water health, and environmental justice for generations to come.
Thank you so much,
