Fwd: out back update

Next week's, May 22, morning outing will be to Tom and Sue Christiansen's land on the north side of Fall Lake.  Tom, Sue and I took a walk to the wetland's that he mentions in preparation for our Wednesday morning hike.  As usual we meet at the Ely Chamber of Commerce parking lot and carpool to a location for this weekly walk.

This AM saw two otters in the smaller, West wetland.  They enjoyed watching Susan and me as much as we liked seeing them.  Absolutely multiple confirmations of cavity nesting grackles.  Bittern heard again.  Walking in saw redstart, lots of B&W and Magnolias.  Uprooted roots near the outlet dam seems to suggest beaver working all over the area.  Sherry was fabulous last night and the audience most engaged.  Wish I could be here next week.
