There are a couple of VERY useful resources out there that you will find instrumental in your learning. The first of these, and I daresay the forebear of all others is to be found on Ardalambion.
Helge Fauskanger has a very in-depth and informational course on Quenya (High Elven.) He also has theory on Sindarin grammar, syntax, phonology, etc.
However, for a precise grammar on Sindarin, I would recommend Thorsten Renk's guide to Sindarin, available for free download as a .pdf file. It is very informative, and more traditional in its structure. (
c.g. It tends to "cut to the chase" whereas Fauskanger provides a more intimate and involved format, Renk's is a concise and readable narrative) His site is located at
Also, there is a book newly available called A Gateway to Sindarin by David Solas (who provided the linguistic guidance in the wonderful cinematic rendition of our favorite books :) Be prepared to shell out a bit of cash for that one. :)
Most everything you hear in the movies that isn't in English is constructed by Solas-from Sindarin to Dwarven. A neat website to look at if you're interested in such things is found at:
