Language for Social change

Dear All, 

It is sometime we have had any discussion on the subjects of our interest. Dr.Alber P Rayan's well-written article on Language for Social change 9Attcahed)provokes our thinking about social issues we are facing today. For one thing,how are we to ensure that our teaching of English should go beyond the development of communication skills. Are we not asking for the moon by expecting our teachers to keep in mind the necessity for going beyond the goals they have got to day.How are we to ensure that our teaching doesn't mock our students and mock at our rich cultural heritage by labelling them as 'superstitions'? Finally, since our text-books are  new nationalized, the government of the day may attempt to indoctrinate the young minds to their ideologies
