Keeping you up to date with all things IATEFL
Hello S.

It’s time for change around the world! As the seasons change, it is time also to share news from the association and the SIGs.

There are plenty of opportunities this month including a very relevant webinar on how to succeed as a freelancer, as part of our exclusive member-only, Career Guides. Many publishers are also extending significant discounts on their products to IATEFL members.

And speaking of publications, please notice the calls for papers for edited collections, newsletters and other publications organised by our SIGs. These, together with SIG conferences and other events such as specialist webinars, make for a very active month of professional development.

I will be looking forward to seeing many of you at some of these events.

In the meantime, stay safe and stay well!

Gabriel Diaz Maggioli, IATEFL President and Chair Publications Committee

IATEFL monthly webinar

Join Hugh Dellar for the next IATEFL webinar on Saturday 30 October at 11.00 (UK time). Hugh will be presenting on the topic of ‘Teaching speaking online'.

In this webinar, we’ll be discussing what needs to happen if our students are to get better at speaking and how teachers working online can best facilitate this. To begin with, we'll be looking at the importance of a conversation-driven approach when it comes to designing online classes, and then we'll move on consider how to build predictions about possible emergent language into your planning, the crucial role that teachers modelling tasks can play, how and when to give feedback on student output, and some of the ways that we can build recycling and repetition into all of our speaking classes. Find out more & register at https://www.iatefl.org/events/238.
